Easy To Follow Guide On Fitting Laminate Flooring

Posted on February 7, 2012 by admin Comment (Published for 2 days)
Whenever you lay a new flooring whether it’s laminate or carpet you should check to see if your sub-floor is level as this will determine a good job from a bad. You will need to check your sub-floor to see if it is concrete or wood so as you know which materials to use to level it.

When your sub-floor is made from wood you have two options. You can either use hardboard or plywood, plywood comes in thicker sheets and gives a far more ridged finish to the sub-floor. Plywood is the more expensive of the two but for good reason as it leaves a solid and level surface from which to fit your laminate flooring. Depending on how uneven your floor is should determine which material you use if your sub-floor is very uneven then use plywood.

Where your sub-floor is made of concrete you will have to level it using a self-levelling screed. All concrete sub-floors need a membrane laid over the top to stop moisture from harming your laminate floor.

Now that your sub-floor is ready you can prepare to lay your laminate floor. Lay the underlay first before attempting anything else. To stop the underlay from moving around when fitting the laminate use either staples or glue depending on your sub-floor.

Having laid your underlay you can now start to lay your first pieces of laminate. Always start at the furthest wall away from the door or entrance of the room. Start from left to right fitting spacers of 5-8mm between the boards and wall. You will need to use wedges or spacers each time you lay a board as these will ensure you keep a 5-8mm gap away from the wall at all times, with the final piece in the row you need to measure the gap and then cut the board to fit.

Repeat the above procedure for rows 2 and 3 ensuring plenty of wedges are used. If you have used enough spacers or wedges then the three rows of laminate should be fitted securely so as they don’t move about.

From this point it is simple a process of repeating each row until you reach the other side of the room where you will need to scribe in the final pieces.

Those who don’t budget their money find that life gets very complicated very quickly. Whether you have a large or small income you should always budget your expenditure so as you know what money you’re spending on what.

For those of you who have just started working and are still living at home a very simple budget will be sufficient for your needs.
Here are five essential elements to any good budget.

• Paying for food and rent is something we all have to do, electric and gas doesn’t grow on trees and so we need to allocate a certain percentage of our income towards these. Whether your family asks you for money or not you should always offer something as this is part of life’s expenditure.
• What do you spend on social activities like football, bowling, drinking etc?
• The next important item for your budget is how much you spend on clothing.
• Holidays, what do you spend on going away, if you don’t go away because you don’t have enough money then follow the next tip?
• Finally make sure your budget includes a proportion towards savings as although you may feel you don’t need then now you certainly will when you get older and the quicker you start to save the more you’ll have when you need them. Always save at least 15% of your salary whenever you start to earn.

Rattan Garden Furniture Style Is Here To Stay

There are not many items consumed which are not visible attractive, in fact most consumer goods are predominantly driven and marketed based on their looks accept for a few. These are the items that are very much function over form.
Goods such as these offer solutions to practical problems such as the products which go inside your computer. That said billions of dollars are spent on packaging of these products because research shows that much of our shopping habits are based on looks even when they shouldn’t be.

There are some goods however where both form and function play a part in the selling of the product such as furniture where comfort as well as good looks are essential. Having said this many items of furniture are in fact sold purely on looks alone especially when purchased from a catalogue where you’re unable to check the function. In the case of rattan furniture we can see almost all examples of the style over function argument taking place. We have some high fashion pieces of furniture which are sold solely for their look at one end of the spectrum. Whilst selling large cushioned and comfortable rattan sofa sets selling at the other end, so it’s not all about style.

With the flexible approach of rattan furniture manufacturers the industry has benefited greatly in recent years. By using more conventional furniture as their guide they have been able to forecast upcoming trends and then replicate these with rattan.
This is thanks in part to the fact that rattan is very flexible and so can be manufactured many different ways. I think the bottom line with rattan furniture is that it is able to be manufactured in almost any way. It can take the form of high fashion or just as easily be molded in a more traditional form.
Therefore I would sum up by saying that thanks to the flexibility of design and the quality of style rattan manufacturers have managed to corner a rather lucrative market.
